VPS4 salary 2026: what you take home after tax and Medicare
The VPS4 salary ranges from $100,894 to $114,476 per year depending on your progression step.
What is a VPS4 salary in 2026?
If you work for the Victorian public service, your classification is set by the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024. A VPS4 salary in 2026 ranges from $100,894 to $114,476 a year, depending on your progression step. The agreement provides seven steps within the VPS4 grade, and you move up by meeting performance criteria. The next rise of 3% is scheduled for 1 May 2027.
How does a VPS4 salary compare to national benchmarks?
The national minimum wage is $26.44 an hour and $1,004.90 a week (Fair Work Ombudsman, from 1 July 2026). A VPS4 on the lowest step earns about $1,940 a week – nearly double the minimum. The average full‑time adult ordinary time earnings are $2,083.70 a week (ABS, May 2026), so a VPS4 at the top step ($114,476) sits slightly above that average at about $2,201 a week. You can see more comparisons on our Benchmarks page.
What is your take‑home pay from a VPS4 salary?
Your take‑home pay is what lands in your bank account after income tax and the Medicare levy. For the 2026–27 tax year, the tax rates are:
